1) In the Porto Alegre Manifesto, it is mentioned that the alternative global movement has become a force to be taken into consideration globally, how is this so? Through which medium did this happenned?

2) One of the necessary measures for the implementation of new economic measures is to pardon southern debt. The argumento for this is that it has already been paid. Is it also possible that this funds have been inapropiately used by the 'bad governments' and this is the reason why they believe this shouldn't be paid?

3) The need to ensure a right to be employed is also deemed as necessary. However, how is this possible in nations were unemployment is abysmal? Were would this come from?

1.The first proposal in the Porto Algre Manifesto staes that all external debt of southern countries should be canceled-if this is done will the debt for the northern countries be canceled also? If not, isn't this a double standard. I understand hat the southern countries are poorer, but is that a justification.

2.If the steps in the proposal are actually carried out and everyone is economically equal- what will be done to keep both the poor and rich from resenting each other afterwards?

3. What is the point of moving the United Nations into a southern country? This does not make it any more accessible, I think this is just a way for southern countries to hav more influence of the decisions of this great body.

4. If all other foeign military troops and/or occupations are withdrawn, it is unfair to continue to occupy Iraq and Palstina. Why are these countries worse than others?

1. At the very beging of the document they say they "have no illusions about the real commitment of governments and international institutions to spontaneously implement any of these proposals" if they know this is true what is their goal for making these proposals?

2. Since the UN has its own territory in New York and once you enter it you are no longer technically in the United States, why does it matter where the headquarters is located?

3. "All inhabitants of this planet must have the right to be employed..." What about the people who don't want to work?

1. In the beginning of the document, the signers of the Porto Alegre Manifesto state that they do not intend “to speak in the name of the entire World Social Forum,” however they believe that their 12 proposals will “give sense and direction to the construction of another, different world” allowing “citizens to take back their own future.” How can they differentiate between not wanting to speak on behalf of all individuals but state that their ideas will better everyone’s life?

2. I’m confused when the first proposal states that they plan to “cancel the external debt of southern countries, which has been already paid many times over.” I understand that some countries are more in debt than others, but where has the money gone in the other cases it has been paid?

3. While I agree that all humans have the right to work and live a healthy productive life, not everyone desires this. That is why I don’t agree with their proposal that says this should be an “imperative of all public polity systems, both national and international.” Are they proposing that all humans must work?

What is a Tobin Tax?

Why are they anti-genetic engineering?

What do they propose industry do to protect people if they forbid animal testing... let alone testing on vegetables?
